Ari Kaplan is a lawyer and head of licensing and business development at Paper Bag Records in Toronto. PBR is one of Canada’s leading record labels that discovered Broken Social Scene, Stars and Tokyo Police Club. PBR is home to 2011 Polaris Prize nominees Austra, PS I Love You, The Rural Alberta Advantage and Young Galaxy. New releases this year include Cuff the Duke, Elliott BROOD, Slim Twig and Winter Gloves. Ari puts the best of Paper Bag into TV, film, advertising and games. He works with artists, music supervisors, media and compilation producers, distributors and other professionals in the broader arts & media world.
As a lawyer, Ari is recognized as one of Canada’s top attorneys; he is a partner at Koskie Minsky LLP in downtown Toronto, a law professor at three universities, the author of Canada’s leading textbook in his area and counsel at the Supreme Court of Canada.
